Macks Creek Juniors Addison Ratliff and Sean Green are both studying Criminal Justice at the Laker Career and Technical Center. Today as a component of their coursework, they had the opportunity to travel to Jefferson City to participate in the Missouri Constitution Project at the Capitol. This program, as described in a Sept. 6, 2018 article published on Missouritimes.com is a "statewide competition comprised of three disciplines: journalism, crime scene investigation and trial advocacy. The students are graded by professionals in each of those fields while gathering evidence from a mock crime scene, reporting on the findings of the police, and bringing the case to trial. They also get the chance to debate legislation, while receiving insight from professionals. The intent is to submerse the students into the roles of police and detectives, journalists, lawyers, and state lawmakers." Addison shared she "learned a lot and really enjoyed getting to debate bills on the same floor as Missouri lawmakers." She also shared she "enjoyed the challenge of debating a fictional case that focused upon the difference between probable cause and reasonable suspicion with other students." Sean shared "I really appreciated how the experience showed me the important value of our constitutional rights. The mock crime scene made me realize law enforcement and crime scene investigation are careers I want to pursue." Great job today Addison and Sean! #MCPirates

Congratulations to Lahnae Lewis on her acceptance into the All-District Concert Choir! Lahnae auditioned with a prepared solo before advancing to perform a sightreading portion last Saturday morning at a competition at School of the Osage. Once the final scores were tabulated, the top students in each voice section were chosen to be All-District. Lahnae and the other All-District Concert Choir members will perform at Camdenton High on November 11th. She will also have the opportunity to audition for the All-State Choir! Way to go Lahnae! We are so proud of you and cannot wait for your performance! We will release more details about how everyone can attend to hear her soon. #MCPirates
