DADEVILLE - After a week hiatus from the diamond the Macks Creek Pirates traveled to Dadeville for a clash against the Bearcats in PCL action. They left with an 8-0 defeat.

Dadeville did most of their damage in the first two innings, plating three runs in the first and four more in the second. They plated their final run in the bottom of the sixth to create the final margin.

Macks Creek did not have a base runner until the fourth when Grant English walked. He would be erased on a Trever Smith fielder's choice to short. Jose Cortez would courtesy run and remain stranded. The Pirates collected their only hit of the night in the top of the sixth when Grant English doubled to the wall in right-center but was left on the bases.

In the top of the seventh Trever Smith reached on an error. Hunter Harris would hit a ball to second with one out, with the throw going to second to cut down Trever. A strikeout ended the game.

"Tanner settled down after the first two innings and allowed us a chance to stay in the game," commented Macks Creek's Jason Trusty, "offensively we are still too hit-and-miss. We really need to get a little momentum with one game left before the District tournament next week."

Tanner Smith (1-4) worked the first four innings in taking the loss. The right-hander allowed seven runs, four earned, on six hits while striking out four and walking three. Grant English relieved in the fifth and worked two innings, allowing one unearned run on one hit while striking out three.

Offensively, Grant English doubled for the only Pirate hit. He also walked. Trever Smith reached base on a fielder's choice and an error and Hunter Harris reached on a fielder's choice as well.

The Pirates fall to 6-11 and 2-5 in Polk County League play. They will complete their regular season tomorrow (Wednesday) when they travel to Wheatland for a make-up PCL contest against the Mules. Game time is slated for 5:00 p.m.

The Pirates JV fell to 2-8 with a 4-1 loss in the night cap.

Ethan English started and took the loss. He worked the first inning and was touched for one unearned run. Dakota Willis relieved and allowed three runs on two hits.

Offensively, Olivier Sanchez, Isaiah Schmidt, and Ethan English all singled for the JV Pirates. Kyler Gabriel walked and scored the lone run, while Nolan Donathan and John Perez each reached on errors.
