Class of 2026

Macks Creek held their graduation ceremony on Friday, May 8, for the Class of 2026. Nineteen Seniors completed their high school journey by taking the traditional walk across the stage. Family and friends celebrated with these graduates the many years of hard work and dedication, formally closing a chapter for them while beginning a new one in their lives.

This year’s commencement address was delivered by Macks Creek High School English teacher, Mrs. Jessica Cowan. Mrs. Cowan opened by quoting Frank Lloyd Wright: “The trick is growing up without growing old.” With it she expressed how well it captured the spirit of their class, citing they are fun, strong-willed, and spirited. She expounded further by encouraging students to keep growing, learning, to never lose the sense of wonder, humor, and passion that has helped to define their group. Her speech continued with memories of their class time together, highlighting both fun and serious discussions, while also watching them grow as a class and individuals. Mrs. Cowan continued in describing their growth together as a class and graduation create a daunting unsureness of the road that lies ahead, there is beauty in creating their own path, and to move forward with confidence and anticipation. Her parting thoughts encouraged students to grow, accept themselves, live in the present, recognize change, and to remember they are loved.

The next speaker was the Class of 2026 Salutatorian, Miss Kylie Crawford. Her speech spoke of her own high school journey as a mix of meaningful, difficult, and memorable experiences. She described when she first came to Macks Creek, how she navigated changing friendships, the ups and downs of life, and the realization that change is inevitable. Kylie shared through all of these things: relationships, mistakes, and memories, she discovered that every experience helped shape who she and her classmates are today. Her final thought was in how she values the unforgettable moments and personal growth it all brought. To close, she expressed gratitude for the people and memories they shared while feeling excited to move forward into the next chapter of life.

The night’s final speech was given by the Class of 2026 Valedictorian, Mr. William Humphrey. William used humor but provided a heartfelt reflection on his experiences in high school and the people who helped shape it. He thanked both his parents and step-parents for their love, support, guidance, and influence throughout his life, as well as teachers and administrators who encouraged and supported him as well. His speech spoke of his appreciation for close friends and memorable experiences during his time in high school. William closed his speech with motivational advice provided by his dad: never believe you “can’t” do something, because determination and persistence can help achieve any goal.

Following the conclusion of the speeches attendees watched the Senior Slideshow. The tradition of handing out flowers was observed. During this time a flower is presented by the graduate to a family member, friend, or person that has been a part of their lives. When the slideshow ended the Pirate Award was presented to Miss Brionna Boggs-Kingston.

The final part of the night was the moment all the students, friends, and family anticipated - the name of each graduate announced as they crossed the stage to receive their diplomas. Board President Megan Boothe presented each Senior with their diploma as they crossed the stage one final time in high school.

The Macks Creek R-V School District would like to congratulate the Class of 2026 and wish them luck in their new adventures!
