Macks Creek hosted Cole Camp for our Inaugural Wrestling Dual this evening. Our wrestlers left it all on the mat! Seniors Owyn Charlton and Kamora Merchant were honored. Kamora and Owyn have enjoyed high school, especially wrestling. They are both looking forward to graduation and continuing their education.
Kamora Merchant is the daughter of Shane and Jennifer Merchant. She has been wrestling for Macks Creek for the last 3 years, however she found her passion for wrestling when she was 10 years old. After wrestling season, she plans to focus on freestyle wrestling to prepare for summer tournaments and women’s college wrestling. After high school, Kamora will be attending William Woods University to continue wrestling and has already been accepted into their pre-vet program. Her favorite wrestling memory was qualifying for state with her big brother, Aidyn Merchant, the first year of the program. Her advice for underclassmen can be summed up in her favorite quote from Helen Maroulis: “Just be true to you. What works for me might not work for someone else and what works for someone else might not work for me.”

Owyn Charlton is the son of Makenzie Barnes and Nick Charlton. He has been wrestling for Macks Creek for 3 years. After wrestling season Owyn is looking forward to graduation. After high school, he plans to attend lineman school through Ozark Technical College in Lebanon. His favorite memory from wrestling was his sophomore year in Rolla, his opponent kept picking him up and slamming him on the mat. He finally got mad, did a mean double leg on the kid directly to his back for a huge pin. His advice for underclassmen is if you wait until the last minute to do something, it only takes a minute. His favorite quote is “Red, white and blue means freedom, until it’s in your rearview.” -anonymous

Congratulations Kamora and Owyn. Macks Creek School is proud of your accomplishments! We are going to miss you both and wish you the very best in your future endeavors!
