MC Lady Pirates
The Macks Creek Lady Pirates Basketball team finished their summer campaign with a solid performance during the 3-day Tri-Lakes Shootout in Branson. Macks Creek went 7-2 beating Missouri class 2 and 3 teams from Woodland, Kelly and Greenville and Arkansas teams from Ozark Mountain, Southside and Rogers Heritage along with a team from Bedford Iowa.

Overall this summer the Lady Pirates went 26-6 with quality wins over class 5A Camdenton and Warrensburg; 4A Osage and Clinton; 3A Sparta, Woodland and Kelly; 6A Southside Arkansas and a very good team from Class 1A - Mercer. They also won the Sonic Shootout in Bolivar.

The most satisfying win, however, was probably against St Elizabeth where Macks Creek's ladies were dominate in a 47-22 victory. “We’ve lost to them 3 times in a row including that devastating loss to them in the District Championship game two seasons ago so this was at least some type of pay back even though it was summer ball,” commented coach Duggan.

The Lady Pirates are hoping they can take the next step this year after making it to the quarterfinals last year. Returning players include All-State Junior India Willis; All-District players Brooklyn Duggan and Addison Ratliff, both Juniors; All-Conference Honorable Mention Emma Seaholm-Junior and letter earners Senior Ashlee Klinksick, Junior Nevaeh Dorrell and Sophomore Morgan Buck. The ladies have added some depth this year with 4 incoming Freshmen, Brooklyn Downing, Madison Stoner, Ava Willis and Eva Willis.

“We continue to beef up our schedule by adding 3 of the top teams in the State. Chadwick who took second and Leeton who took 4th in State last year are both on the schedule and we were asked to play in the prestigious 48 hours of basketball in Springfield where we will face last years No. 1 ranked team all year - South Iron. We will play them on Dec 17th at 2 a.m. at Greenwood Laboratory school so get an afternoon nap, because the girls are expecting a big crowd for this one!!”

“The ladies are excited about this season and are ready to work hard to accomplish some pretty lofty goals. If you haven’t seen these girls play, I encourage everyone to make a point and come to a game. They’re really fun to watch.”
