LAQUEY - Macks Creek suffered their first loss of the season on Monday night. Laquey collected a walk-off single in the bottom of the seventh to plate their 14th run of the evening to end the game.

Macks Creek took a 3-0 lead in the first. Bobbie Hilton doubled to right with two outs and was replaced by courtesy runner Emma Waters. Shaylee Skinner then had a ball go off of the short stop, allowing Waters to score for a 1-0 lead. Bethany Schmidt walked to move Skinner to second and both advanced an extra base on a wild pitch. Molly Phillips followed with an RBI-single to left to plate Skinner and move Schmidt to third. Phillips stole second before back-to-back walks to Courtney Knight and Catie Gabriel pushed across the third run and gave the Lady Pirates a 3-0 advantage.

Three more runs were scored by Macks Creek in the second. Alyssa Seaholm doubled to right-center and the moved to third on a throwing error on the same play. She would come in to score on Bobbie Hilton's RBI-double to left. She would advance to third on a wild pitch ahead of a Shaylee Skinner walk. Shaylee would steal second and then move to third on a wild pitch with Hilton scoring on the play. Bethany Schmidt followed with a sacrifice fly to left to push the lead to 6-0. 

The bottom of the second proved to be the big inning for the Lady Hornets, as they sent 14 hitters to the plate and scored nine runs to take a 9-6 lead. Each spot in the order produced a base runner and scored in the frame before the first out was recorded. Madyson Helmuth had an RBI-double, Morhan Helmuth an RBI-single, Acacia Rice an RBI on a bases loaded walk, and Briar Sayer had an RBI-ground out.

In the top of the third Macks Creek responded with four of their own to retake the lead. Courtney Knight reached on a bunt single and moved to second on a wild pitch. A ground out by Catie Gabriel moved her to third and she came in to score on Bailey Taylor's single to right. Taylor moved to second on a wild pitch ahead of a Jesse Willis walk just before Alyssa Seaholm colected an RBI-double to deep center to plate Bailey. Willis moved to third on the play. Bobbie Hilton put a ball back to the pitcher that brought in Jesse and moved Alyssa to third. Seaholm would score on a wild pitch to put Macks Creek ahead 10-9.

Laquey came right back with three more runs in their half of the third. Aurora Rice walked but was erased on a fielder's choice off the bat of Acacia Rice. She would move to third on wild pitches before comeing to score on Makenzie Skidmore's RBI-fielder's choice to short. Lexi Cressel, who had walked, moved to third on the play with Skidmore moving to second. Briar Sayer pushed across Cressel with a swinging-bunt-single with Skidmore moving to third. She would come in to score on Evelyn Rogers ground ball to third that was misplayed. Laquey now led 12-10.

The Lady Pirates started to chip away at the lead as the offenses of both teams would cool in the fourth, fifth, and sixth innings. Molly Phillips was hit-by-a-pitch, stole second and third, and scored on Catie Gabriel's ground out to first to make the score 12-11. Laquey plated a single tally in the bottom of the fourth when Aurora Rice walked and moved around the bases on wild pitches to move the score back to a two run advantage at 13-11.

Macks Creek plated a run in the fifth when Bobbie Hilton doubled and then came around to score on Shaylee Skinner's RBI-double to right. Bethany Schmidt walked and stole second after a wild pitch moved courtesy runner Amber Klinksick to third, and Molly Phillips walked to load the bases. She would be erased at second on a ground ball to second off the bat of Courtney Knight. In the top of the seventh Bobbie Hilton walked, moved to second on a wild pitch, and then scored on Shaylee Skinner's base hit to center. She would be thrown out trying to stretch it to a double. Molly Phillips walked in the inning but a ground out to the pitcher ended the threat.

In the bottom of the seventh Lexi Cressel walked and stole second. Allison Smith was then intentionally walked to bring in Briar Sayer, who collected the game-winning single to right to end the game at 14-13.

"We put up some runs tonight offensively, however we are still giving up too many free passes with walks and hit batters in the circle," commented Macks Creek Coach Jason Trusty.

Macks Creek's pitching issued 10 walks and hit two batters on the night. Bethany Schimdt started and lasted a little over an inning. She was touched for eight runs, five earned, on five hits while striking out one, walking three, and hitting one batter. Shaylee Skinner (0-1) relieved and suffered the loss with her five-plus innings of work. She allowed six runs, five earned, on four hits to go along with four strike outs, seven walks, and one hit batter as well.

Aurora Rice started and worked the complete game for Laquey in picking up the win. She allowed 13 runs on 11 hits while striking out four, walking 11, and hitting two batters.

Bobbie Hilton and Alyssa Seaholm each collected three hits to pace an 11-hit Lady Pirate offense. Hilton went three-for-four with three doubles, two RBI's, and two runs scored while Seaholm went three-for-five with two doubles, a single, two runs scored, and an RBI. Shaylee Skinner doubled, singled, reached on an error, scored twice, and had two RBI's. Molly Phillips singled in a run, walked twice, was beaned, and scored once, Courtney Knight walked, singled, and scored, and Bailey Taylor singled in a run, walked, and scored. Jesse Willis walked, was hit-by-a-pitch, and scored, Bethany Schmidt walked twice and collected an RBI on a sacrifice fly, Catie Gabriel had an RBI-ground and an RBI on a bases loaded walk, Emma Waters scored two runs as a courtesy runner and Amber Klinksick scored once as one.

Briar Sayer banged out three hits in four trips to the plate and Aurora Rice singled three times to help the Lady Hornets' offense. Sayer finished the day with two singles, a triple, one run scored, and two RBI's while Aurora have those three hits, two runs scored, and two walks. Lexi Cressel singled once, walked twice, and scored three runs, Madyson Helmuth doubled in a run, scored, walked, and reached on a fielder's choice, and Morghan Helmuth singled in a run and scored. Acacia Rice walked, scored two runs, and had an RBI, Makenzie Skidmore walked, reached on a fielder's choice, scored twice, and had an RBI, Evelyn Rogers walked, was hit-by-a-pitch, scored, and reached on an error and Emmalee Ackley walked and scored.

Macks Creek falls to 1-1 with the loss. They will play host to the Versailles Lady Tigers tomorrow and then the Springfield Central Lady Bulldogs on Thursday before travelling to Hermitage on Friday for a PCL tilt with the Lady Hornets.

The Lady Pirates JV tied 9-9 in the night cap.

Catie Gabriel worked all three innings and allowed nine runs on two hits while walking six and hitting three batters.

Syrena Rector was hit twice and scored once, Amber Klinksick and Emma Waters each singled, walked, and scored, and Marissa Harkey, Cieanna Earney, and Vanessa Wallace each were hit by a pitch and walked with Harkey scoring once. Daysha Brooks walked and scored while Callie Leach was hit-by-a-pitch, reached on an error, and scored. Ciera Compton was beaned and scored a run.
